Opportunities are plentiful – the question is, as investors, how do we best understand our own attitude toward risk and reward, and then find and match that attitude to the right investments?

With more than 25 years advising entrepreneurs and investors, Benjamin Salazar has become a champion of entrepreneurship and innovation. He came to Austin, TX from Dallas in 2022 as a venture banker for the Technology and Life Science Division of Comerica Bank, managing a global client portfolio, a $100 million pipeline, and providing capital for early-stage venture-backed startups. He is an active member of the startup and investment community, serving as a mentor and advisor for startup founders at multiple accelerators. He is an active angel investor across multiple networks, a venture partner, an angel group leader, and a regional leader at the Angel Capital Association.

Salazar Capital Ventures (SCV) is a capital advisory and investment firm that offers exclusive, direct and indirect investments in energy, natural resources, and technology to its investor community. Whenever possible, we believe in investing in Texas with a global perspective.

Benjamin believes in old-fashioned religion, in the impact of service, and in helping others in the community to achieve success. A portion of all proceeds from Salazar Capital Ventures is donated to community development. As a board member, trustee, and investment committee member, he has served a number of community, government, and philanthropic organizations, such as the City of Austin as Commissioner for Economic Prosperity, judge at the Dell Social Innovation Challenge, and board member of the Dallas Development Fund, which deployed more than $240 million in socially responsible funds to develop the city’s southern sector. He was a regular speaker at the Governor’s Invest in Texas annual conference for Mexican entrepreneurs expanding to Texas and has often served as a panelist and moderator regarding the theme of access to capital. Benjamin is currently a board member of Saint Louis House and Alliance Française D’Austin, and he works closely with the Austin Community Foundation on multiple philanthropic initiatives. He is on the Leadership Advisory Board of Austin Classical Guitar, the Alumni Advisory Board of Sarah Lawrence College, and the President’s Advisory Council of Brown University.
